While our End of Term 2 Assembly looked a little different this year (being live streamed to our students and staff, who participated remotely), our Salesian spirit remained the same. In a speech to our students and staff, Dean of Students (Middle School) Mr Kim Beurs reflected on the value of belonging to our diverse community. Below, we share excerpts of his powerful reflection.
“The Coronavirus has changed the way that we live. One small positive that we can take out of this experience is that we have all taken the time to slow down, and remind ourselves what is important to us. Rather than spending time devoted to our usual busy routines, we have been given an opportunity to reflect, and spend time with those who are important to us. Remote learning reminded me of the value that I have in our Salesian College community. It is every member of our Salesian community, which is comprised of so many diverse, cultural backgrounds that makes Salesian College such a unique and special place.”
“Each and every one of us adds value to this College. Everyone deserves the right to feel respected here. Everyone deserves the right to feel joy here. We all belong to Salesian College. We all have a role to play to add value to our College. We all belong to Salesian College.”
