Supporting Student Success

Every Monday, the English department organizes English help, which is an opportunity for VCE English, EAL, and Literature students to get extra help to develop their writing, analytical, and comprehension skills. English help has proven to be extremely attractive for students, with close to a hundred VCE students choosing to stay behind afterschool on Monday to develop their talents. VCE teachers are present to reinscribe their lessons or concepts to students and are joined by high-achieving former students from many different Salesian cohorts. This is extremely helpful, as it combines the educational expertise of teachers with the personal and lived experience of former Salesian students.

There is a convivial atmosphere present, as students, teachers, and student volunteers all work in cooperation to ensure that Salesian English, Literature, and EAL students can achieve at their best. It means that struggling students can catch-up on work, whilst other students can be enabled to excel in their studies. This option to engage in effective study will become even more useful when year 12 students get closer to the English and Literature exams later in the year.

Our Year 11 and 12 students are extremely grateful for this opportunity, and we thank Ms Cap and the English department for all their help!
