HAVE A CONCERN?

Will students get into trouble if they raise a concern?

  • No, Students won’t get in trouble if they raise a concern.

What kinds of things can students raise concerns about?

  • When something is seriously bothering a student, or when something feels unsafe or seriously wrong or unfair to them.
  • Areas of concerns for students can be related to curriculum and learning, wellbeing, facilities, transportation, the local area surrounding the school, student behaviours, staff and social media.

What will happen if a student raises a concern?

  • Student concerns will be taken seriously and followed up confidentially – if we need to talk to someone else, the relevant staff members will have a conversation with the student raising the concern first.
  • Counselling support can also be arranged.

What happens next?

  • Dependent on the seriousness of the concern being raised by the student, the response timeline will be 5 school days – 2 weeks.
  • The student raising the concern will be informed of the outcome.

How do students reach out with a concern?

  • Students can speak directly with a staff member they feel comfortable speaking with.
  • Email svc@salesian.vic.edu.au – Concerns sent to this email will be seen by Mr Richard Bourbon – Assistant Principal Students & Engagement, Mr Byron Chen – Pastoral Leader, Ms Molly O’Shea – Student Leadership & Empowerment Leader.
  • Use the Student Concerns Form on Simon Daily Messages – Concerns sent in via this form will only be seen by Mr Richard Bourbon – Assistant Principal Students & Engagement.
