THE HIGHLIGHTS
On behalf of our community, we congratulate our 2024 Dux, Jordi Dermitzakis who achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.45, putting him in the top 0.05% of all Year 12 students in the state.
Achieving a study score of 49 in Applied Computing, 47 in Physics, 45 in English, 42 in Mathematical Methods, 41 in Religion and Society (in 2023) and 34 in Languages – Greek (in 2023).
Jordi intends to study his first preference of Engineering (Honours)/Computer Science at Monash University (Clayton).

The Salesian College Chadstone community commends all students from the Class of 2024 on the completion of their VCE and Vocational Major studies and acknowledges the dedication, commitment and support that staff and families have provided to ensure students reach their potential during the 2024 academic year.
On behalf of our community, we congratulate our 2024 Proxime Accessit Joel Knight who achieved outstanding ATAR of 99.3, putting him in the top 1% of all Year 12 students in the state.
Joel achieved a 45 in Biology (in 2023), 44 in Physics, 43 in Chemistry, 43 in Mathematical Methods, 41 in Specialist Mathematics and 41 in English.
Joel intends to study his first preference of Engineering (Honours) at Monash University (Clayton).

Christian has demonstrated consistent leadership in class, in projects and events, and has been a positive advocate for the applied learning program at parent information evenings and in the wider community.

Jordi Dermitzakis has exemplified outstanding motivation throughout his studies. With a methodical and organised approach, Jordi achieved an impressive ATAR of 99.45, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence. His positive work ethic and ability to respond to feedback have made him a role model for his peers. Jordi plans to study his first preference of Engineering (Honours)/Computer Science at Monash University (Clayton).
Joel Knight has demonstrated exceptional work ethic, resolve and independence has led him to achieve an outstanding ATAR of 99.3. His leadership as Academic Ambassador, where he coordinated student-led subject selection videos, showcased his dedication to the school community. Joel intends to study his first preference of Engineering (Honours) at Monash University (Clayton).
Liam Matteo consistently lives out the College Values, showing dedication across all subjects. With a focus on academic excellence, Liam achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.2. As Environmental Enrichment Captain, he led several initiatives, demonstrating his leadership skills. Liam is set to extend his learning by intending to study his first preference of Engineering (Honours) Monash University (Clayton).

We are thrilled to congratulate Christian Moraes on his incredible achievement of being drafted to the AFL. This is a testament to his hard work, talent, and dedication both on and off the field.
Christian credits the College’s values, particularly kindness and teacher support, for shaping him as a person. With the Sports Academy Program playing a pivotal role in his athletic growth, this educational foundation introduced him to gym work and emphasized discipline, which has helped shaped his routine.
Coaches and mentors like Mr Sellwood, who supported him even outside of school, and teachers like Ms Tsiavis and Ms Capomolla, made a lasting impact. Balancing academics and sports in Year 12 proved to be challenging, but with the school’s understanding and structure, Christian was supported to achieve his dream.

Salesian College Chadstone’s College Captain Benjamin Brooks and Vice-Captains James McLaughlin and Dylan Rayen’s VCE success and strength in student leadership reflects determination, effective time management, and strong support from dedicated teachers, supportive family and loyal peers.
For these high-achieving students, all with ATARs over 92, their shared commitment to facing the challenges of VCE head-on has been key. With teacher encouragement, well-organised study plans, clear goals, and regular breaks with family and friends this has allowed them to reach their full potential.
They honed the skills to turn their vision into action. Throughout the year, they led impactful initiatives like the ‘Push-Up Challenge,’ raising over $3,300 for mental health awareness, and the ‘Soccer Festival,’ a thrilling event that brought all four Houses together.
Their collaboration with other schools also proved valuable, with the Captains attending leadership breakfasts and conferences, forging new connections and gaining insights from their peers. The leaders embraced student-led assemblies, celebrating the achievements of their fellow students.
We celebrate the impressive achievements of Benjamin, James, and Dylan.
